Bio

For as long as I can remember art has been my only consistent friend. At age 12, my mother and I fled our home in Sri Lanka as a result of the Civil War and immigrated to Canada. There, I pursued a degree in visual arts, receiving my Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University and offered entrance into the Master's program. Feeling the pressures of "having a career", I reluctantly declined, and pursued a Bachelor's in Education. I became a primary school teacher and accepted a job in the Middle East, but was unable to continue my practice in the ways I desired. So, after a few years, I knew I needed to get back in my element; back to my home.
